Track and Field

North Medford High hosted a kids track and field event last Tuesday and we brought Jonah. We got there after it had started and waited in a LONG line just to throw a softball once! It was their version of little kid shot put. Jonah didn't understand why we waited all that time just to throw a ball once. He ran two races. The first race was short and we got over there just in time for them to yell "go". We told Jonah to 'run, run' and off he went. Then we realized he was running alongside the girls! Apparently the boys and girls were separate. The next race was about 1/2 the track and I got my camera ready for pictures. The guy yelled go and I saw a bunch of little boys running down the track, but no Jonah. Finally, a couple of stragglers came trotting down the track, my son being one of them. Roland said a boy tripped in front of him when they started and Jonah stopped to help him up. I guess that's a fine trade-off for not running with the other kids! Now all Jonah can talk about is running the race. There's one more coming up and we'll make and be there early!
